If you drive 6,000 miles or less per year, have the engine oil and oil filter changed at the beginning of spring and near the end of fall. If you drive 10,000 or more miles per year, have the engine oil and oil filter changed every 3,000 to 3,500 miles or about every four months. An easy way to remember oil changes is to mark a new calendar at the beginning of a year with "oil change" reminders.( HOWARD WILNER cool automotives) HOWARD WILNER used-autovehicle reviews HOWARD WILNER automotives tipz => The most common causes of steering looseness include worn tie rod ends, a worn idler arm or center link (on vehicles without rack and pinion steering), a worn steering gear or a worn steering rack. Normally, your steering wheel should have no more than about a quarter inch of play. Any more means something is worn or loose and needs to be fixed. First, consider, does your vehicle actually have the ability to run many miles without incurring costly repairs? Find out by visiting a public library to consult the frequency-of-repair information in the April magazine issue of Consumer Reports. If your vehicle has a poor repair history, consider buying a vehicle that has better ratings and fuel efficiency. HOWARD WILNER automotives tipz Ninety percent of all driving decisions are based on a clear unobstructed view of the road, which means good visibility is absolutely essential - especially during wet weather when vision may be obscured by water, road splash, sleet or snow on the windshield. But good visibility requires wipers that are in good condition. If the wipers are chattering, streaking or otherwise failing to wipe cleanly and consistently, you need new blades Part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) allows a vehicle to be driven in the two-wheel drive mode for ordinary highway and everyday driving (which reduces drivetrain friction and tire wear for improved fuel economy and tire life), and allows it to be switched to four-wheel drive when extra traction is needed as when driving off-road, on gravel, snow, ice or mud. HOWARD WILNER vehicles solutions An oil pressure warning light (or low gauge reading) means one of two things: either your engine has dangerously low oil pressure (for a variety of reasons which well get to in a minute), or the oil pressure sending unit that triggers the warning light (or operates your gauge) has failed. First, do not keep driving if the oil warning light is on or your oil pressure gauge has dropped. Stop the engine, let it sit for a few minutes, then check the oil level. If your oil level was low, it means your engine is either leaking oil or burning it. If the dipstick shows a full oil level, then low oil obviously isnt your problem. The oil pressure may be low because of a worn or broken oil pump, a plugged oil pickup screen in the engines crankcase, possibly a plugged oil filter or excessive bearing wear.If the problem came on suddenly, your engine does not have a lot of miles on it (less than 60,000) and you noticed no unusual noises (no valvetrain clattering or engine knocking), theres a good chance that all thats wrong is the sending unit If you dont see any sideways movement in the wheel, it doesnt necessarily mean the wheel is straight. There may be just enough sideways runout to cause a shimmy, but not enough to see. To find this kind of problem, youll need a dial indicator. More than about .050 inch of sideways runout can be enough to cause a problem. HOWARD WILNER Brakes HOWARD WILNER cool automotives => Dont attempt repairs yourself if youre not physically able to do the work. Replacing certain components may require heavy lifting (changing or removing tires, pulling a cylinder head, etc.), crawling under the vehicle, laying or working in an awkward position, reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, tugging, straining, jerking and motions you may not be accustomed to making. Use common sense. If you have a bad back, joint problems or lack the physical strength to do something, then dont. Hire someone to do it for you. Total silence when I try start my car usually means no juice is getting through to the starter. So start with the battery. Is is dead or does it still have a full charge? Are the battery cables loose, corroded or damaged? Be sure to check both ends of the cables, including the starter and ground connections.( HOWARD WILNER vehicles solutions) WILNER HOWARD Safety and Security In some cases, the brake warning light may remain on if the switch on the parking brake pedal or lever is misadjusted. If the brake warning light comes on when you apply the brakes, or is on continuously, it means that hydraulic pressure has been lost in one side of the brake system or that the fluid level in the master cylinder is dangerously low (due to a leak somewhere in the brake system). In either case, the fluid level in the master cylinder should be checked.Brake fluid leaks are serious because they may cause the brakes to fail! So avoid driving the vehicle until the system can be inspected to determine whats wrong Onboard diagnostic systems are very complex and require a fair amount of expertise as well as special tools to troubleshoot. To find out whats wrong, a technician has to "get into" your system through a diagnostic connector which may be located under the dash, under the drivers seat or in the engine compartment. The diagnostic connector serves as a port of entry for accessing information and/or for putting your vehicles computer system into a special diagnostic mode for further testing or displaying "fault codes". http://howard-wilner.org/index.html http://wilner-howard.com/forum http://wilner-howard.org/howard+wilner+about.html http://wilner-howard.net/blog http://wilner-howard.org/index.html http://wilner-howard.org/blog http://wilner-howard.net/howard+wilner+news.html http://howard-wilner.org/blog http://howard-wilner.org/howard+wilner+about.html http://howard-wilner.net/forum HOWARD WILNER automotives tipz HOWARD WILNER vehicles solutions HOWARD WILNER Brakes WILNER HOWARD Safety and Security HOWARD WILNER cars reviews HOWARD WILNER - car oil leaks HOWARD WILNER vehicle tips HOWARD WILNER review sells HOWARD WILNER the tip of the day HOWARD WILNER latest news HOWARD WILNER autovehicles stories HOWARD WILNER cars fluids HOWARD WILNER - Warning Lights HOWARD WILNER cool automotives HOWARD WILNER Transmission solutions HOWARD WILNER Engine tips

Although this special Corvette has a host of electronic controls to help keep it securely on the road, its power is so explosive that it demands all of your attention all the time. The foolhardy need not apply. The interior is standard Corvette, although the optional sports seats would be great for their additional support. The Callaway package and short-shift kit brought the sticker price to $70,365.( WILNER HOWARD news) HOWARD WILNER released sites HOWARD WILNER automotives tipz => The 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT Exhaust manifold gaskets have blown. 2.8 engine spun connecting rod bearings about three months ago (replaced the 2.8 with a 3.4). Clutch (but with 90,000 some miles on it why not?) Crack in sail panel. The body lines and style are a timeless design! The interior is very "cockpit like". The car handles very well. The 1988 Pontiac Fiero LX Sway bar link rubber bushing dry rotted/ replaced by me at a parts cost of $5.16 (easy job)Fan belt dry rotted / broke while driving; was able to drive it home 2 miles. Then drove to auto parts, replaced in parking lot in 5 minutes, cost $18.00 (easy job)Fuel injector plugged, new cost $84.00. I paid $80.00 for the car, went to junk yard, removed one from 88 Buick Century replaced it for 5.00.Battery cradle was rusted out, not acid ate as I have read on this site. Pontiac could not seen the water that holds in the pan plus the weight of battery holds moisture for longer amounts of time because of the louvered vents. Will replace with a plastic one. HOWARD Wilner autovehicles news Volkswagen's Audi unit has redone its best-selling model, the A4, for the '09 model year. And except for some unnecessarily complex dashboard controls, it's a winner, combining the luxury of one archrival, the Mercedes C-Class, with the hard-edged handling of another, the BMW 3-Series. And with all-wheel drive standard. It's almost 5 inches longer and 2 inches wider than its predecessor and slips through the air a little more easily. It has an almost 6-inch longer wheelbase, which usually improves the ride and makes the interior roomier. 2002 Maruti 800, Good Value for money and cheap to buy. Unfortunately since our country came a member of EU, no more are available as new due to High emissions. Perfect for 1 or 2persons not comfortable for a family too small. Fuel consumption is OK around 42-45mpg, If 5th gear was available you can make more! Perfect driving is between 70-80Km/hr, Highest is 110Km/hr and you could easily hear the engine over running that you might think its going to blow up! It's a pity doest have the 5th GEAR! cuz at 100km/hr still got the power to develop up to 125km/hr or so. Steady till 90Km/hr, but not over HOWARD WILNER elf Most fun I've had with 2000 Birkin S3 Super 7 that has unbelieveable performance, unlike my GT6 the bolts come apart when they need to and the brakes don't fade. Quick, 1250 lbs, 230hp, sticks, brakes and makes $60K+ cars look like a melted piece of lead on the track. A great modern version of Chapman's original with reliability and even greater performance. Replaced numerous relays and switches for the A/C fans and cooling unit. Strange gas smell from the rear of the car due to a leak in a hose. The 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT, I bought this car earlier this year for a commuter vehicle for school. Prior to this I mainly drove a 98 GMC K1500 which was a gas hog. I used to pay $45+ a week to commute, now I only pay $20. The car-fax I got when buying the car showed that the previous owner maintained it pretty well. They had GM do oil changes every 3k miles, a complete tune-up, brake and tire replacement when needed, etc etc. The only part that I had to replace due due to GM is the window regulator in the passenger side window. The BCM needed replacement due to user error; when changing a bulb it wasn't seated right and caused a short which fried the module. Dumb mistake on my part. HOWARD WILNER used vehicle HOWARD WILNER cool automotives => I bought this car brand new in July of 1996. I have owned it for 12 years. It has been the most trouble free car that I have ever owned in my life. More than my Toyota's or Honda's that I've owned. It has never left me stranded anywhere. I don't beat on it & do all the maintenance on time & I steam clean the engine bay once in a long while to get all the grime off the electrical & mechanical components. Saab 900s ARE reliable if they are looked after and if you are aware that after 100k, bits will wear out and require more than their gestalt value to replace. Talk to vintage Porsche owners - do you see their point of view? Remember that every time you authorise a 1k bill, you are buying a brand new used Saab that will last you 24 months. If you owned a new car of the same ilk, you'd spend 4 times that in depreciation each year (maybe), plus you paid half your salary for it in the first place.( HOWARD WILNER vehicle tips) HOWARD WILNER vehicle tips The 2009 ZR1 will have 638 horsepower, carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon-fiber body panels and a 205-mph top track speed. Only 2,000 will be made the first year. Its sticker price is $103,300, but the actual selling price will soar well above that.Creating a Callaway Corvette begins with the addition of a supercharged engine and new exhaust to the base model. Options include a short-throw shift linkage ($470), an adjustable suspension ($5,960), upgraded brakes ($7,620), lightweight wheels ($9,495), sports seats ($6,940) and an all-leather interior ($24,300). The 1994 SAAB 900 s. It is possible to park the car in any other gear other than reverse and then start it without a key. Had a bad exhaust leak. Heater core was bad causing severe loss of coolant. Brakes got rusty surprisingly quick. Windscreen wipers don't work. Rear hatchback door struts gave out causing a broken finger. Eats a lot of oil. HOWARD WILNER breaking news The standard hands-free phone system, known as U Connect, allows you to send and receive calls. It connects easily to the system and reconnects your phone automatically every time you get in the SUV, but the voice recognition software had difficulty deciphering my very plain American accent. Test after test, I would ask the system to call "home" and it would dial "Ford." Not the best choice for a Chrysler. While the system will upload your phone's address book, I found it easier to dial the number on the phone and then speak through the hands-free system. Certain functions are only available if the car is stopped or if you are a passenger. Passengers can talk freely to it. I liked how the system asked if I was a passenger so I could change features. The system cannot detect lies. The cabin is surpisingly comfortable especially on a long commute to work. The bucket seats just make it feel like you are in a lazy-boy with a 5-speed. However, it does require a good bit of maintainence and seems to have a new problem every week (but nothing major). Thankfully the engine is built like a Scandinavian rock and has stood up to a long life while still providing great service. All of the other things are just a minor inconvenience as long as I don't get caught in a rain shower! How inexpensive? With the $500 extra for the third seat, the midlevel LX model has a list price of $19,045, including $650 freight. The base Rondo begins at $17,045, but is not offered with the third seat. While the Rondo is not the gas-sipper that, say, a Toyota Corolla is, the EPA ratings are much better than those of the typical midsize or larger SUV: 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 on the highway with the base four-cylinder engine. The tank holds 15.8 gallons of fuel, about half as much as some of the big SUVs. My dad has been driving this since 1987 and he today he hates driving any big cars Corolla/Accent etc. while driving around in the city. Rear hatch would come loose if carrying anything heavy or bulky that would rub against the rear door - may be due to a nasty nearside rear shunt it had when young. Nearside rear door needed a teeny bit more elbow to shut properly. On-going electrical problems - things cutting out, indicators dim etc - not the alternator as dealer said, but bad earth, which "bloke in shed" found. Solved by welding earth to body. This is the best car for countries like India and Sri Lanka. If you cannot afford the big cost of fuel, use this vehicle. Spare parts prices are also very low. I bought a brand new in September 2005 and, its good for day to day journeys without any problem. With AC it is very fuel efficient in traffic-less roads. Spacious than Nissan March. No Airbags and dash board is small. Then it's spacious inside the car more than you see it from outside. HOWARD WILNER cars The car is very quick. Highway passes are almost too easy, and when I first had the car I found that the tires spun pretty easily off the line. The thing handles like a dream. The steering is very responsive, and the suspension does a good job keeping the body roll at a minimum on hard turns. It could be a little tighter though, but that's just my preference. If it had a strut tower bar and a little firmer spring setup it would be perfect. One grip I've had is why GM didn't offer these cars in a manual transmission. The auto shifts very nicely, it has a nice bite to it, but I think this car would be that much more enjoyable with a 5 speed. 1988 Pontiac Fiero Car runs great. Could use more power. I'd love to do a 4.9 Caddy V8 swap. But I'm happy with 28mpg. Handles great. I have Continental 205-55-16s on PT Cruiser rims. Replaced dead front shocks and worn rears with KYBs at 98k ~ $180 done by me. The rims are a perfect fit. Replaced alternator at 103k - did myself for $130. Red paint is faded, but no rust on plastic panels. Interior holds up well. Beechwood is attractive. At some point in the past, the battery must have leaked. The battery tray and chassis underneath was rotted so I had it welded for $225. Ball joint mount is worn - BJ floats. Car is not bad to work on. No timing belt to deal with.Replaced water pump at 94k ~ $25 done by me - difficult job. HOWARD WILNER Volkswagen's Audi unit has redone its best-selling model, the A4, for the '09 model year.
